Exporting Data from Trend MLS – New Jersey/Pennsylvania

Trend MLS

In selecting data from Trend MLS be sure to select the two options below:

Make sure that all the status options are selected.  Then place a more recent date in the “Status Date” entry field.  The data “01/01/2008” is a good date for 2009 (since only the last two years are used.   These options will make sure that all the data that is needed to create the appropriate graphs, is collected.

You should also make your normal selection choice by selecting other options that you would normally select in doing a CMA.  As mentioned earlier, looking at activity in specific subdivisions or neighborhoods is a good starting point.

Once you’ve selected the search criteria, you may view your results.  From the view screen you may select the data you'd like to export.  In most cases, you'll be export all the data you selected.   To export data, select the "export" button as shown in the graphic below.

Once you press the "Export" button, you will see a dialog similar to the one shown below.  Select the "Long Listings Export (formally 94 fields)" option.

Then press the "Export Button".

After pressing the "Export" button you will get a confirmation stating that your export was submitted and that it will be available for the next 7 days.   You may need to wait a few minutes until the export is completed.  Once it is completed you'll be able to see the export in the export list as show below.

To download your data, select the "Filename" link.  You will first get a "Notice" telling you that you are limited to exporting only 300 records over a seven day period.  This is an incredible limitation provided by your MLS.  So plan accordingly (or ask your MLS to raise the limit).

Once the download starts, you will be asked if you want to save the file.  Select the ‘Save’ option and then select a filename.

Be sure to remember where you save your file.  This is the exported file that will be used to create your graphs.

You will see dialog boxes similar to what you see below.

Once you have saved your exported file, you are ready to run your application.  When you run the application you will need to point to the exported data file, so make sure that you’ve placed the file in an easy to find place.

For instructions on how to run your application, be sure to see the tutorial on the Focus 1st website.
