The Buying Pattern Configuration File contains information about the export files for each of the MLS’s that are supported in the Neighborhood Buying Pattern Application. While you don’t have to understand the configuration file, you may be required to update your configuration file if your MLS changes the export format or if you decided to use a different export format.
To read in a new configuration file, you must run a macro that is part of the Neighborhood Buying Pattern application.
To read in a new configuration file you must first start the Buying Pattern application and be sure to “Enable Macros”. Once you bring up the Buying Pattern application, use the ToolsgMacrogMacros menu (as shown below) to bring up the list of Macros to run.

Note: This procedure works if you are using Excel 2003. If you are using Excel 2007 (or even if you are using Excel 2003), you may use the Macro shortcut. Open up the Neighborhood Buying Pattern application and make sure that you have Enabled Macros. Then holding down the <alt> key, press the <f8> key located at the top of your keyboard. This will bring up the Macros Dialog box shown below.
Once you bring up the list of Macros to run, you will see
a box as shown below. Select the
“ReadMLSConfig” macro and press the
button to run the macro.

Once you run the Macro, you will see the “Select MLS Configuration File” dialog box. Select the Configuration file. The Neighborhood Buying Pattern will read in the application.

Once the Configuration File has been read in, the application will let you know that the configuration file is read in by showing the following dialog box.

Once you updated your configuration information, you should save the Buying Pattern application. This will store away the newly created configuration.
